Fund the Spaces People Actually Use
Lecture theatres booked and empty, libraries full at exam time, study spaces nobody has found. CampusSense measures how every space is actually used, so timetabling, cleaning and capital planning run on demand rather than bookings.
Booked Is Not the Same as Used
Most campuses plan from the timetable: a room is busy if it is booked. Walk the corridors and the picture changes. Booked rooms sit half empty, unbookable spaces overflow, the library fills at nine and the new study hub stays quiet.
Measured occupancy closes that gap. It shows which spaces earn their floor area, where people actually go between classes, and what a new building needs to hold.
What You Can Finally Measure
Room-by-room utilisation
Occupancy against capacity for lecture theatres, tutorial rooms and labs, by hour and by week of term.
Libraries and study spaces
Live seat availability you can publish to students, and the peaks that tell you when to extend opening hours.
Cleaning and services on demand
Clean, heat and cool the spaces that were used, rather than every space on the schedule.
Open days and events
Counts at open days, graduations and orientation, with live crowding for the people running them.
Evidence for capital works
A utilisation baseline behind the case for a new building, a refit, or the space you can give back.
Into your systems
Occupancy over the API, webhooks and MCP, into the timetabling, facilities and reporting tools you already run.
Choose, Measure, Plan
- 01
Choose the spaces
Start with the buildings or room types where a decision is pending. We plan node positions from floor plans.
- 02
Measure a term
Nodes mount on walls and ceilings and count people, not identities. A full term shows the peaks, the troughs and the weeks that matter.
- 03
Plan on evidence
Utilisation by room, building and hour, ready for timetabling, facilities and capital planning.
Campuses That Plan Space
Universities and TAFEs
Teaching-space utilisation, library and study-space demand, and the evidence for capital works.
Schools
Use of halls, libraries and shared facilities, and counts at assemblies, carnivals and community use of the grounds.
Health and research campuses
Occupancy across clinics, waiting areas and shared facilities, and where wayfinding fails.
Facilities and property teams
Cleaning, energy and maintenance planned on measured use instead of a fixed schedule.
No Names. No Faces. No Devices Tied to a Person.
Students, staff and visitors are counted, never identified, and no attendance is recorded against a person. It measures the space, not the people in it.
The nodes count and measure movement. They never identify anyone, there is no facial recognition, and no names, faces or devices are tied to a person. You get the number without collecting anything about the people it counts.
CampusSense, Answered
Does this track individual students?
No. The nodes count people and measure occupancy; they do not identify anyone, use facial recognition or record who attended a class.
Can students see live seat availability?
Yes. Live occupancy for libraries and study spaces can feed a screen, a web page or your app through the API.
Do we need to run network cabling?
No. Nodes can run on battery and report over 4G, so a building can be measured without a facilities project to install it.
How long should we measure before deciding?
A full term usually shows the real pattern, exam weeks included. A shorter run works for a narrow question, such as whether a room needs a refit.
