What Makes Them Different
The thinking happens on the node
Detection runs behind the lens on the 301 and reports structured counts and classes. Footage never has to leave the device to become a number you can act on.
Power is optional
Four AA batteries run a 101 for years of scheduled capture. Add USB-C, PoE or solar where you have it — the node adapts to the site, not the other way around.
Network is optional too
Wi-Fi where you have it, 4G where you don’t, Ethernet where it’s fixed, and long-range sub-GHz radio for the far corners. A microSD buffer holds everything until the link returns.

Wakes for a reason

How We Build and Ship Hardware
Built on proven modules, finished by us
We build on industrial camera modules that are already certified and in volume production, then specify the lens, power, radio and enclosure for the job. You get new-product capability without new-product risk.
Firmware and models are ours
Detection models, capture logic and reporting behaviour are developed and tuned by CrowdSense against real sites — then pushed to your fleet over the air, with rollback if a release misbehaves.
Staged before it ships
Every node is imaged, provisioned to your account, lens-matched to its intended sightline and burn-in tested before it leaves us. Deployment is mounting, not configuring.
Certified and compliant
The modules we build on carry CE, FCC and RoHS marks, and we specify radio variants that are legal for the market they ship to.
Custom builds welcome
A 16-pin expansion header, RS485, I2C and switchable power out mean we can bolt on the sensor your site actually needs — air quality, noise, weather, weight — and report it beside the vision data.

What is the difference between the 101 and the 301?
The 101 is a sensing camera: it captures on a schedule or a trigger and reports, and it does that for years on four AA batteries. The 301 adds a dedicated neural accelerator, so it runs detection models on the device in real time — counts, classes and recognition at video rate. Use a 101 where you need eyes for a long time on no power, and a 301 where you need an answer in the same second.
Does video leave the site?
It does not have to. The 301 processes on the device and sends structured events — a count, a class, a threshold crossed — rather than a stream. Where imagery is kept for retrospective review it is stored as periodic keyframes and frosted so individuals are not identifiable.
Do Vision Nodes work with the cameras we already own?
Yes — they sit alongside them. CrowdSense already turns existing IP and CCTV cameras into counts through Vision, and Vision Nodes cover the places your fixed cameras cannot reach: no power, no cabling, no line of sight.
How do we get the data into our own systems?
Nodes publish structured events over MQTT, and the platform exposes everything through a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server — so your dashboards, BI tools and AI agents can read the same numbers the control room sees.
Can the nodes run our own detection model?
On the 301, yes. Models are hot-swappable from the browser, so a node can be retasked without touching the hardware. If you need something recognised that we do not already detect, we can train and deploy it.
What happens when the network drops?
The node keeps working. Captures and events buffer to the card on the device and backfill in order once the link returns, so the record stays complete rather than showing a gap.
