Crowd counting and gate sensors in Melbourne
Four seasons in a day and a festival every week. The kit is the same; the travel band is remote and priced up front. Crowd nodes, gate counters, the mesh, screens and the crew, hired by the day, with a deposit that holds the dates.
Melbourne events we see
- CBD and Docklands builds
- Laneway and precinct festivals
- Showgrounds and sporting precincts
- Council activity-centre counts
Gate counts against the capacity line, density and dwell at the stage front and the bars, the mesh carrying the crew apps where phones drop out, and screens that change with the crowd. The controller sees it before the radio call.

Bump-in the day before doors in Melbourne, a hand tally at the gates, an operations lead on the day for a large event, bump-out in an hour.
Questions from Melbourne producers
Do you crew events in Melbourne?
Yes. Melbourne is in the remote travel band ($1,650 on the quote), which covers the crew's trip; for a smaller event, self-deploy ships the kit in cases with the app to place it, and we run the day with you from the Control Room.
What does the deposit cover?
Half the quote, paid when you book. It holds the kit and the dates and starts the crew planning. The balance is invoiced fourteen days before the first day on site. Pay online by card or bank debit, or ask for an invoice.
Does the site need power or Wi-Fi at the gates?
No. Crowd nodes and counters run on battery for a festival and report over the mesh to the Site Mesh Gateway, which has its own 4G uplink and a local live view for the site office.
Is anyone identified?
No. Crowd nodes read the anonymous signals phones already broadcast and turn them into density and dwell on the node; only the counts leave it. Gate counters use depth, not images. The vision node at a stage counts people and flow; it never identifies anyone.
What does the event controller see?
A live map of every gate and zone in the Control Room and the Companion App, capacity and density thresholds with alerts, and the crew apps on the mesh so radio traffic and check-ins work where phones do not. After the event, the fifteen-minute curves and, if ordered, an impact report.
