Tell Drivers It Is Full Before They Queue to Find Out
Count vehicles in and out of every car park and overflow paddock, and CrowdSense keeps a live occupancy for each. Alerts when it fills, widgets for the signs at the road, and the history to plan the next event.
The Car Park Fills. The Sign at the Road Still Says Open.
On event day, car parks fill in minutes and drivers keep turning in because nobody has told them. Marshals radio a guess, the overflow opens late and the queue backs onto the road.
Counting vehicles in and out of each car park keeps a live occupancy, so the alert goes out and the sign changes before the last space goes, not after.
Every Car Park, Counted Live
Entries and exits
A line across each entry and exit counts vehicles both ways, by type.
Live occupancy
Vehicles in each car park, level or paddock, kept as a running total.
Zone counts and dwell
Draw a zone over a row, a drop-off bay or a loading area and see how many vehicles are there and for how long.
Full alerts
Set thresholds per car park and the portal alerts the team, or fires a webhook, as it fills.
Widgets for signs and apps
Live spaces or occupancy on a screen at the road, on your website or in your event app.
History for the next plan
Fill times, peaks and turnover by event and by day, for the next traffic and parking plan.
Live Parking in Four Steps
- 01
Install on a Windows PC
Download CrowdSense Desktop and install it on a Windows 10, 11 or Server PC on the same network as your cameras, then sign in.
- 02
Add your cameras
Paste in each camera’s RTSP address, find it over ONVIF, or plug in a webcam. Choose the AI vehicles & people profile, which tells a bike from a car, van, truck or bus.
- 03
Line the entries, zone the bays
Draw a line across every way in and out, and zones over any area where you want a direct count or dwell.
- 04
Watch it fill
Occupancy per car park appears in the portal live, with alerts at the levels you choose.
Where to Put the Camera
Detection profile: AI vehicles & people. Any IP camera that streams over RTSP works, with ONVIF optional, and so does a USB webcam.
Every way in and out needs a counting line, or the total drifts. Include exit-only lanes.
For vehicles, use the AI vehicles & people profile and a camera angle between 20° and 90°: angled or side-on, not straight down.
A vehicle needs to fill at least 4% of the frame’s width seen from the front or back, or 10% seen side-on.
Overhead-angled or side views both work. Avoid views where vehicles queue nose to tail and hide one another.

Shopping centres and campuses
Level-by-level occupancy and turnover, without a sensor in every bay.
Video Stays on Your PC. Only the Numbers Leave.
CrowdSense Desktop analyses the video on the Windows PC it is installed on. What reaches the portal is text: a line was crossed, a zone filled, a queue grew. No video and no images are uploaded, and nothing sent can identify a person.
The software detects people and vehicles so it can count them; it does not identify anyone. No facial recognition, no biometric identification of people. Ever. Your cameras, your recordings and your footage stay on your site, under your control.
Parking analytics, Answered
Do I need a sensor in every bay?
No. Counting the entries and exits gives occupancy for the whole car park. For a smaller area, a zone over the bays counts the vehicles directly.
Can it drive a sign at the entrance?
Yes. Embed the live figure as a widget on a screen, or send it over the REST API or webhooks to your sign or parking system.
Does it read number plates?
No. It counts and classifies vehicles. It does not read plates or identify vehicles or drivers.
What about a grass paddock with no gates?
Put the counting lines on the tracks in and out. If there are no cameras there, we hire Vision Nodes and crew for events.
Can I run it all year?
Yes. Venues and councils use the always-on plan, from $39 a feed a month on the yearly plan ($69 month to month for up to 9 feeds), ex GST.
